What to send us: reading a nameplate

The five lines on a nameplate that decide whether a part fits.

Most wrong parts come from a missing line on the enquiry. A clear nameplate photo usually solves it. If you type it out, send these:

  1. Maker. The company name, not the shipyard or the system integrator.
  2. Type or model. The full code, including letters at the end. A suffix often changes voltage, flange or software.
  3. Part number or order code. For automation this matters more than the model. Copy it exactly, with dashes.
  4. Serial number and year. Helps us match revisions and drawings.
  5. Ratings. Voltage, frequency, power, pressure or speed, as printed.

Taking the photo

  • Clean the plate with a cloth first.
  • Shoot straight on, not at an angle, with no flash glare.
  • Take one close-up of the plate and one wider photo of the unit where it is fitted.
