Fuel and lube oil purifiers run continuously, and a few parts carry most of the wear. Planning them before the overhaul avoids waiting for spares with the bowl open.
Parts that usually need attention
- Bowl seals and O-rings. Replaced at every major service.
- Gravity disc. Must match the oil density and temperature. Keep a set on board.
- Disc stack. Check for damage and deposits. Damaged discs upset the balance.
- Sliding bowl bottom and operating water parts. Wear here causes leaking or failed discharges.
- Vertical shaft bearings and friction pads. Noise, vibration or slow start-up point here.
